Our Curriculum
We build on the children's natural curiosity, enthusiasm and their thirst for knowledge.
We encourage active involvement from our children by inspiring them to generate questions that challenge and promote good thinking and dialogue.
We use the new national curriculum to promote high standards.
We aim to develop in all of our children:
- A mathematical fluency and the application of mathematical skills
- A love of reading and a solid command of vocabulary, as well as the stamina to write at length accurately
- An understanding of the world and a sense of excitement for scientific enquiry
Within our foundation subjects - which include
Art & Design, Computing, Design & Technology, Geography, History and Languages-children receive a high quality education that is designed to inspire naturally curious and creative minds. We challenge them to think critically, to build their knowledge and understanding and to explore and enjoy learning.
Through our diverse and enjoyable Music curriculum we aim to provide a rich, broad musical experience which helps pupils develop the skills to express their own talents. At the same time, we are fostering an appreciation for music that will continue throughout their lives. Pupils are also given every encouragement to lead healthy, active lives and we provide a high quality PE curriculum that can build up their physical confidence in a range of activities; nothing is better than engaging in competitive sport for learning values such as fairness, team spirit and respect.
We recognise that many of the values that we want our children to develop can be achieved through extracurricular opportunities. Every year, Year 5 and 6 attend a week long residential trip. We have a proud tradition of success in various sports, drama and music. In addition we offer both Forest School and a wide range of after-school clubs.
